Children on this experience will enjoy a trip on the schooner Cervantes Saavedra through the waters of Formentera. They will learn aspects of marine biology, nautical knots, sails and rigging and how to use navigation charts. All this in an environment where they will learn social and leadership.
They can also, obtain the official diving qualification with the prestigious marine biologist Manuel San Félix.

Sailing Course Agenda:

8.30 – 9.30: Start of the day and breakfast.
10.00 – 11.30: Theoretical – practical lessons for the diving course.
12.00 – 13.30: Theoretical – practical lessons for the diving course.
13.30 – 14.30: Lunch.
14.30 – 16.30: Free time.
16.30 – 18.00: Maps, orientation and marine biology workshops.
18.00 – 19.00: Water sports.
19.00 – 20.00: Dinner.

Outings and facilities

The camp takes place on the schooner the Cervantes Saavedra.

SEK professionals and diving instructors from the Vellmari centre in Formentera.

Sea Camp in Formentera with diving: €1,968

  • 10% discount for payments made before 1 February – SEK and non-SEK students.
  • 5% discount for payments made before 30 April – SEK and non-SEK students. No compatible with the special discount
  • 7.5% discount for SEK students and SEK alumni

Additional to the Cervantes Saavedra course:

  • The schooner Cervantes Saavedra has a 48.5-meter-long iron hull, 8 metre beam, 7 metre forestay and three masts with mixed rigging.
  • The ship has 20 cabins, dining room, galley and an infirmary.
  • In addition to the sails, it has a conventional propulsion with engines. It is manned by 11 crew members and berths 35 passengers.

  • Raincoat and booties for Nautical sports.
  • Deck shoes.

The Sea camp in Formentera course requires a pre-registration process prior to formalising registration. This pre-registration process consists of:

SEK students

  • Skype interview with the candidate and tutors.
  • Candidate motivation letter.

Non-SEK students

  • Interview, via Skype, with the candidate and tutors.
  • Candidate motivation letter.
  • Letter of recommendation from the school of origin
