  • Obtain the Day Skipper sailing qualification to be able to skipper motorboats of up to 15 meters, up to 12 miles from shore.
  • Different options are available depending on the practical training carried out on the boat:
  • OPTION 1: The Spanish ‘PER’ Motorboat skipper qualification entitles holders to skipper motorboats of up to 24 meters in length from the Iberian Peninsula to the Balearic Islands.
  • OPTION 2: The Spanish ‘PER’ sailing skipper qualification entitles holders to skipper motorboats or sail boats of up to 24 meters in length from the Iberian Peninsula to the Balearic Islands.

THEORY

1ST WEEK ONLINE CLASSES MONDAY, WEDNESDAY & FRIDAY

09:30 / 11:30 Theoretical-practical classes from the classrooms of the schooner Cervantes Saavedra.

2ND WEEK CLASSES MONDAY, WEDNESDAY & FRIDAY

09:30 / 12:30 Theoretical-practical classes from the classrooms of the schooner Cervantes Saavedra.  Q&A.

2ND WEEK ONLINE CLASSES WEDNESDAY & FRIDAY

09:30 / 11:30 Theoretical-practical classes on ship’s instruments and rigging.

PRACTICAL CLASSES ON MARINE RADIO USE.

In order to ensure students train in how to use Marine VF Radio, sessions will take place in groups during the drill and navigation practice weekend.

PRACTICAL SESSIONS ON BOARD THE CERVANTES SAAVEDRA

This experience offers a cruise on the schooner the Cervantes Saavedra to a range of possible destinations, for the extended ‘PER’ Day Skipper qualification the proposed itineraries would be the waters around islands of the Columbretes or Pitiusas, depending on the weather and the state of the Sea. The itinerary can be varied to visit different ports of cultural interest.

They will learn all aspects of traditional sailing on a tall ship. Developing and learning ship drills, students will take shifts on the four parts of the ship. The bridge, machine room, deck and auxiliary drills.  There will also be different workshops on sailor knots, sail sewing and rigging. Those taking the Day Skipper qualification will learn to handle the sails of the boat safely, to predict the appropriate trimming according to the navigation plan.

Navigation charts will be used and the importance of maintaining order and discipline will be stressed in an environment where we will work on social and leadership skills.
